Selection for the graduate program AStroParis is made on the basis of :
- Quality and feasibility of the proposal
- Academic or professional record
- Personal qualifications
- Relevance and consistency of the research project
- For non-native English speakers : B2 level in English at least
Applicants should pay attention to :
- the adequacy of the previous trainings to the requirements of the proposed training
- the quality of the research project : we expect a student to use the proposed training offer to build a coherent research training path
- their future
Three criteria illustrate how your educational trajectory is constructed in a relevant way
- past : valorization of the initial training ;
- present : optimal exploitation of resources provided by the graduate program ;
- future : adequacy between your objectives and your skills gained through the graduate program.

Fee Information
Tuition fees : 243 euros / year for 2022-2023 + 92 € (CVEC).
Tuition in France is subsidized by the State, and French students acquit themselves of an administrative fee of 243 euros plus an annual contribution to Campus life (CVEC) of 92 euros. PSL has committed to applying the same tuition fees for all students, whether French or International (European Union and non-European Union), for the full course of study of students.
To get an idea of the real price of the training, the Paris Observatory and PSL are investing around 40 k€ for the training of a master’s student over 2 years.
Scholarships
All students of the graduate program can apply to competitive fundings :
- Internship and gap year grants to bring the students’ training closer to the research activity in the laboratories ;
- Outgoing mobility grants to gain an international experience ;
- Incoming mobility grants to strengthen international partnerships ;
- Scientific incentive credits to initiate projects of various kinds.
Competitive grants (as of January 2023)
- Incoming mobility : monthly living stipend of 300 to 400 €
- Internship : monthly living stipend following the French regulation (about 630 €).
- International internship : The Observatoire de Paris is member of Erasmus+ program, so that you can receive a monthly living stipend of 400 to 600 € for an internship abroad (this amount depends of your destination)
- PhD track grants are offered by the Graduate Program in Astrophysics each year. Candidates are invited to establish an educational project according to the offer of the Graduate Program and a research project with a research team from one of the PSL astrophysics laboratories. More information
