Overview
AStroParis promotes interdisciplinarity, national and international mobility, and welcome students in gap semester or gap year, for research projects.
The graduate program also provides grants for individually designed study and research projects, for students who are registered in any member of the PSL. It includes a monthly living stipend of 990 €.
Research projects
Any research project to be conducted in an astrophysics laboratory of PSL is considered. Projects must be prepared in connection with these labs.
Applications
A candidate has to submit an application defining the activities to take place during one semester or one academic year.
- Full CV including usual biographical data
- Academic transcripts
- Education and research program
- summary : concise description of the what, where, and why of the proposed project ; brief description of career and/or educational plans
- the detailed program for your AStroParis year (2-3 pages). Develop an intellectually-compelling and feasible project or justification for pursuing a graduate degree program ; pay attention to show how your academic and personal skill can be used for the project, and how they will evolve for building your education/research/professional program (including the M2 year)
- Two recommendation letters
Indicative time line
- Mid-April : early bird projects will be evaluated not later than mid-May
- Mid-June (strict deadline) : projects will be evaluated not later than mid-July
Selection
Selection for a grant is made on the basis of :
- Quality and feasibility of the proposal.
- Academic or professional record.
- Personal qualifications.
- Relevance of the research project.
Any student accepted for a gap semester/gap year at PSL and not registered in PSL will have to provide a registration certificate mentioning their registration in their home University.
