Open to all, Night’s Day is a major national event to raise awareness of light pollution, the protection of nocturnal biodiversity and the beauty of the starry sky.
The 15e edition takes place on Saturday 14 October 2023.
Engaged in this great festive and participatory action, the Observatoire de Paris - PSL and the association La Beta-Pi give you an appointment at La Loggia, in Meudon, on the public terraces, below the Observatory.
In the program
◾ From 18:30 to 19:30 : "Astrophysics" coffee-debate at the Loggia
Hosted by Mathieu Servillat, astrophysicist at the Paris Observatory - PSL, at the LUTH (Laboratoire Univers et Théories).
During this exchange, we will question the construction of scientific results in astrophysics by evoking various controversies and great debates that have marked the history of Astronomy, from the origins of the Big Bang to the idea of black holes.
- What makes the scientific message credible ?
- What is a scientific publication ?
- What results are reliable ?
- Which ones are still under debate ?
- In short, how to decipher the scientific message ?
◾ From 8pm to 10:30pm : evening observation of the night sky, facing the Loggia
With the ASTRO Club of the Beta-Pi and the resources - explanatory panels and mobile telescope - of the Paris Observatory - PSL.
Bring your own telescopes to collectively admire the starry sky, in one of the most beautiful sites of Ile-de-France, while enjoying the sweets of the Loggia.
