The Observatoire de Paris - PSL has an excellent record when it comes to equal pay for men and women. The results of the professional equality index are now available, confirming a significant improvement between 2022 and 2023.

A legal framework respected and surpassed

Legislation requires organizations to achieve a professional equality index of at least 75 points out of 100. A score below this threshold is considered insufficient. The Observatory has met and exceeded this requirement.

  • In 2022, the equal pay index reached 91.3 points out of 100,
  • while in 2023, it climbed to 98 points out of 100.
    These results confirm the Observatory’s commitment to reducing the pay gap between men and women.

Parity in top salaries}

An important element of the gender equality index is the distribution of the 10 highest earners. If an organization has five women and five men in this group, it obtains the 20 points allocated to this part of the index. In 2022, the Observatory counted four women among the ten highest earners. This parity was achieved in 2023, with five women among the top ten earners, reflecting progress towards equal pay.

An equitable remuneration policy

The Observatory applies internally-established remuneration scales for contract agents, guaranteeing equity between men and women. All civil servants and contract employees managed by the payroll system, excluding CNRS and university employers, are included in this analysis, representing 385 full-time equivalents out of a total workforce of around 400 spread across the Paris, Meudon and Nançay campuses. With a total payroll of 30 million euros, the Observatoire demonstrates a strong commitment to a fair remuneration policy, which applies to both civil servants and contract staff.
Our company can be proud of its results in terms of equal pay. The positive results achieved between 2022 and 2023, for both civil servants and contract employees, bear witness to a balanced pay policy that aims to reduce inequalities between men and women. This progress demonstrates our ongoing commitment to professional equality.
