Presentation of the Library

As a former member of the Center for the Acquisition and Diffusion of Scientific and Technical Information (Centre d’Acquisition et de Diffusion de l’Information Scientifique et Technique - CADIST) in astronomy-astrophysics and history of astronomy-astrophysics, the Paris Observatory Library is today part of Collections d’Excellence (CollEx) for these specialized subjects, and an active partner with the French National Library.

The permanent team is reinforced for short-term assignments by non-permanent colleagues and interns.

Missions of the Library

The Paris Observatory Library acquires, catalogs and preserves the documents needed by staff and students for research and academic purposes.

The Library is also responsible for the Paris Observatory archival and museum collections.

Additionally, the Library offers services for researchers in the management of their publications and datas.

The library of the Institut de Mécanique Céleste et de Calcul des Ephémérides (IMCCE) laboratory is associated with the Library.
