The teaching and training unit (L’Unité de Formation et d’Enseignement - UFE) of the Observatoire de Paris organizes theoretical and practical courses for teachers and science demonstrators.
Many kinds of courses are available :


Training in astronomy and observation of the sky
The course takes place at the Observatoire de Haute Provence. The activities depends of the level of the participants. The subjects treated span the major astronomical themes included in school programmes, and small telescopes, as well as an 80cm telescope, are used for the observations.


Training in radioastronomy
This course, which is both theoretical and practical, is in the first instance destined for high school teachers (collèges and lycées) wishing to learn radioastronomy. Are covered the history and basic ideas of radioastronomy, the principles underlying the instruments at Nançay and their scientific results, as well as the major international projects.


Training in the observation of the sky
During the period October to February, one Wednesday per month with the Moon in roughly in first quarter phase, observational sessions are organized for teachers. The 38cm refractor in the Arago dome of the Paris site is used.


Academic training plan and local internships
The Observatoire de Paris is pursuing actively a policy involving local education authorities to encourage the initial and continued training of teachers.
