The Paris Observatory - PSL has been present in Meudon since the end of the 19th century on the former site of a royal castle. True emblem of the city, it contributes today largely to its notoriety, giving it its astronomical connotation.
When the City of Meudon Museum of Art and History asked the Observatory’s teams to devote an exhibition to this strong and historic link between Meudon and science, they naturally responded enthusiastically.
Exceptionally, original pieces have been loaned, such as the first scientific photographs of the Sun, models, and also prototypes of the current scientific instruments assembled in Meudon and embarked on board major international space missions...
The exhibition thus devotes an entire section to the Observatory and its location in Meudon, from its origins to the present day. From the Hangar Y, ONERA and CNRS, ancient and modern scientific objects from other major institutions are also to be discovered.
Note the special welcome reserved for schoolchildren, with tailor-made scientific workshops to which the astronomers of the Paris Observatory - PSL have contributed.
