Lunar marathon : On the Moon Again

Echoing the anniversary of the first step of Man on the Moon in July 1969 and to allow the largest number of people to contemplate our natural satellite, the Astronomical Society of France in partnership with the CNRS, Unistellar, the European Space Agency and the Students’ Office (BDE) of the Observatoire de Paris - PSL organizes the first lunar marathon, with 24 hours of lectures and observations through connected telescopes.
Within the framework of the international and French initiative On the Moon Again, the first lunar marathon will take place to allow as many people as possible to discover and observe the Moon during 24 hours.
From July 17, 2021 at noon to July 18, 2021 at noon, scientists and observers from all over the world will follow one another. Thus, for the pleasure of all, the Moon will not set for 24 hours. And all its secrets will be revealed : its formation, its geological history, past and future space missions ... Students and French researchers will take turns at the headquarters of the Astronomical Society of France to lead this marathon in English available online on the YouTube channel of On the Moon Again.
Given the health context, this free event is to be followed online, in English and open to all. A world first !
Festival de la Plage aux Étoiles

Created just 10 years ago under the impulse of Miguel Montargès, astrophysicist at the Laboratoire d’études spatiales et d’instrumentation en astrophysique, this event has become one of the major summer astronomical events in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The Observatoire de Paris - PSL is a partner of this 8th edition.
This year, for its 10th anniversary, the Festival innovates with a "planet hunt" organized in the streets of Collioure : the 8 planets of the Solar System have been hidden in remarkable places of the city or offering a beautiful view.
Also to be discovered throughout the week a host of activities : The Train of Stars to take you to the heights of Collioure to discover the beauties of the sky, exhibitions, conferences, and night observations that this year will be captured live on telescopes and projected on a large screen to meet health regulations.

Les nuits des étoiles

For their thirtieth anniversary, the Nuits des étoiles 2021, organized by the Association Française d’Astronomie, offers to all those curious about the sky to watch for shooting stars. A new feature this year : the Nuits des étoiles are coming to YouTube, in partnership with the Observatoire de Paris - PSL.
To celebrate this 30th anniversary of the Nuits des étoiles, the AFA decided to shoot a series of videos with the YouTubeur Astronogeek. The filming took place at the Observatory "loaded with history and turned to new discoveries for over 350 years", and more precisely at the Arago dome.
From August 5 to 8, at 4pm, we invite you to watch the Astronogeek YouTube channel to discover exciting testimonies of researchers, astronauts and engineers, including those of scientists from the Observatoire de Paris - PSL : Fabienne Casoli, President, Brigitte Zanda, François Colas, Pernelle Bernardi, Thomas Widemann.
Festival de Fleurance

This year is also the 30th edition of the Fleurance Festival, the largest astronomy festival in France and one of the major annual mediation events in Earth and Universe sciences in France for the past thirty years. The students of the Bureau des élèves (BDE) of the Observatoire de Paris - PSL have organized themselves to participate.

The students of the BDE take with them mobile telescopes of the Observatory. Meet them and discover with them the beauties of the sky that they will describe to you with passion and enthusiasm, in the light of the teachings received during their course.
