The sponsorship system for school classes is one of the training activities of the Observatoire de Paris ; it is completely free and available to all schools.

Examples of sponsorship

Sponsorship of a CM2 class
Sponsorship of a high section class
Sponsorship of a 5th grade class

Every school teacher who would like to develop a pedagogical astronomy project in his or her class can apply for help from an advisor.

Astronomical advisors from the Observatoire have at their disposal pedagogical "suitcases" ; they can give scientific help and advice either directly at school, or by telephone or email. Teachers’ projects can take many forms : "hands-on" activities (for example, model making, instrumentation), talks, mini exhibitions ...

An advisor can include as part of his contribution a free visit of the Observatory, his own participation in a school activity (a talk, a question and answer session, demonstrations), or an introduction to celestial observing. In the latter case, the astronomer will bring a small instrument to observe the Sun, or the stars at night.

These advisorships are supported by a ministerial presence housed at the Observatory " Science at School ". There is also a partnership with Planète-Sciences which adds an instrumental element.
