This decision by the State is based on the report of the High Council for the Evaluation of Higher Education and Research, published in July 2022, which, in its conclusions, issued a unanimously favorable opinion on PSL’s request to leave its status as an experimental public institution with a view to its transformation into a major institution.
For Alain FUCHS, President of PSL University, "As the committee mandated by the HCERES indicated in its report, PSL has now reached a full degree of institutional maturity. This decree marks the recognition of the model PSL has adopted, that of a collegiate university, which is widely recognized internationally, but until now has been foreign to France, whereby the component institutions retain a high degree of autonomy, while the university sets the overall strategy, determines the budgetary orientations, offers a unique range of courses, and is responsible for the joint definition of quality standards and their control. With this institutional stabilization, PSL can now project itself more effectively on a national and international scale."
