For the UNESCO 2018 International Day of Light, the Paris Observatory, in association with the group « Ars Mathematica » will organize at its Paris site a series of public talks on Wednesday May 16th 2018, from 16h to 21h.
Free, but obligatory, registration - 50 places available.

The « Ars Mathematica » society strives to create an a judicious combination of arts, sciences and technologies on the occasion of the multidisciplinary events which organizes regularly.

The series of meetings and talks on May 16th 2018, open to the public and organized together with the Paris Observatory, will be devoted to the general subject of Light.

"Light" will be treated from every possible point of view : in physics, in biology, in art ... and the Enlightenment in philosophy. In short, all the various aspects of light and its applications will be presented, including some thoughts on the relevance of the Enlightenment to the XXIst century.

  • Damien SCHOËVAËRT-BROSSAULT, biologist and plastic artist,
  • Jean-François RIAUX, epistemologist and philosopher,
  • Christian LAVIGNE, writer and robotics sculptor,
  • Patrick SAINT-JEAN, biologist, mathematician and multimedia artist,
  • Susana SULIC, art historian and mulimedia artist.
