Don’t forget your invitation (on your smartphone or printed out) and your ID; arrive at 98 boulevard Arago, 14th arrondissement, 10 min, before the time indicated on your ticket.
Founded in 1667, the Paris Observatory is the cradle of French institutional astronomy, in continuous operation for over 350 years.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore its historic building, perfectly oriented to the four points of the compass. It’s one of the major buildings of French classicism, designed by Claude Perrault, the famous architect behind the Louvre colonnade.
Among the highlights of the visit (duration 1h, in french): }
- The panoramic terrace with its breathtaking view of the capital,
- The "Arago" dome,
- The monumental "Cassini" room, engraved with the Paris meridian,
- The grand gallery and its antique instruments,
- La salle du Conseil (the Council Chamber), with its painted ceiling and portraits.
