Conditions to be fulfilled in order to access the on-line documentary resources

The library has obtained on-line documentary resources, whose usage is governed by special agreements signed by the President of the Paris Observatory. These agreements stipulate which users are authorized, which uses are authorized and which uses are forbidden.

The “Observatoire de Paris” is to be understood here as including all of its parts.

1. Authorized users

In general:
  • Every person who is authorized by the Paris Observatory to access its site.
  • Every visitor using a Paris Observatory open access computer terminal.
And in particular:
  • Students enrolled in courses at the Observatoire de Paris.
  • Persons enrolled in the Unité Formation-Enseignement (UFE) (the teaching training unit) for the duration of the training.
  • Teachers, researcher-teachers, researchers and Ph.D. students working in any one of the parts of the Observatoire de Paris.
  • The personnel of the Observatoire de Paris, whether permanent, temporary or under contract.
  • Persons enrolled in distance training of the Observatoire de Paris.
  • Visiting users when they on the site of the Observatoire de Paris.

2. Authorized usage

  • Research and on-line consultation.
  • Downloading and printing for strictly and exclusively personal, pedagogical and private use, but not commercial use.
  • Obligatory citation including the source.

3. Strictly forbidden usage

  • Systematic or automatic partial or complete downloading.
  • Partial or total publication, distribution or sale.
  • Suppression, modification or change of data.
  • Distribution of login names and passwords.
