The Scientific Council Plurianual Incentive Actions also organizes events mainly for Observatory teams.

Jules Janssen Conference Center (CCJJ)

Scientific progress is fostered by exchanges between researchers of different categories (juniors and seniors), of different specialties, from different countries. The confrontation of ideas often proves in practice to be as rich as the laboratory or observation activity. This idea led to the creation, in 1999, of the CIAS (Centre International d’Ateliers Scientifiques). In 2022, the Jules Janssen Conference Center will take over with a scope extended to workshops, schools, colloquia and seminars.

A privileged space for meetings, accompanied by material and logistic support, is one of the best ways to encourage such exchanges.

The activities of the Jules Janssen Conference Center are financed by the Scientific Council of the Paris Observatory. Its premises are located in the castle of the Meudon site.

The Centre de Conférence Jules Janssen launches two calls for proposals per year to cover the two academic semesters. Requests for events outside of these two calls for tenders
may also be considered. In addition to material and logistical support
logistical support, the Center allocates a budget that depends on the number of days
and the number of participants. To propose an event in this framework, please
guided on the website of the Center.
