Are you sometimes worried by the astronomical vocabulary ? quasar, asterosismology, redshift... all kinds of words and terminology which you would like to understand without delay ? Now you can, thanks to the Paris Observatory’s interactive dictionary.

This interactive dictionary is an indispensable item to help you understand all the astronomical terms encountered on the internet.

It is extremely easy to use : just underline the strange word, and its definition pops up in a balloon.

Installation

  1. This dictionary only works with the Google navigator Chrome
    (Download Google chrome).
  2. Download the file
    Il will be in the .crx format.
  3. Open Google chrome, go into the menu (by default, on the right of the address bar), click on Tools, then on Extensions.
  4. Add the downloaded file dictionary.crx to the extensions (in the case of Macs, slide it onto the page)
  5. Check that the extension has been activated
  6. An icon should now be visible in you navigator to the right of the address bar.

 : The dictionary is active.

 : The dictionary has been deactivated.

At present, the dictionary has English definitions of French, English and Persian terms.
