Online resources for teachers
This portal brings together online resources produced by the Teaching Training Unit at Paris Observatory, thanks to the Teaching and Information Technologies Unit. The resources are classified according to level, format and volume/duration. Some of them are the course materials for the "Lumières sur l’Univers" online training course (7 courses).

Latest images of the Sun and everything you need to know about our star
The Observatoire de Paris, at its Meudon site, has been making daily observations of the Sun’s surface for over a hundred years. The result is a unique collection of over one hundred thousand images, spread over ten cycles of solar activity. The INSU National Observation Service website displays daily images of the Sun and offers a wide range of educational resources on solar physics.

The Cassini meridian
In the great hall on the second floor of the Paris Observatory building - built between 1667 and 1671 from plans by architect Claude Perrault - stands one of the wonders of the Observatory, the great meridian line. Conceived and sketched by Jean-Dominique Cassini (1625-1712) shortly after his arrival at the Paris Observatory in 1669, it was to be the first line of a monumental sundial.
This high-precision astronomical instrument was designed to answer a then-controversial question : Does the Earth’s tilt vary ?
